WhenFree (“we”, “our”, “the extension”) is a Chrome extension that helps users generate a plain-text list of available time slots based on their Google Calendar.
1. Information We Collect
WhenFree collects or uses the following information:
Google Account / Calendar Data
-
The extension does not directly access Google Calendar. Calendar data is accessed only by our backend server after the user completes Google OAuth authentication.
-
The backend uses the Google Calendar API to fetch events and calculate available time slots.
Authentication Token
-
After OAuth, our backend issues a JSON Web Token (JWT) to the extension.
-
The JWT is stored locally in Chrome storage to authenticate requests to our backend.
-
The JWT is not shared with third parties.
Usage Data
-
We may collect minimal usage data for debugging and improvement purposes (e.g., request timestamps).
-
Usage data is not used for advertising or tracking.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information only to:
- Authenticate the user and verify permission to access their calendar.
- Fetch Google Calendar events via OAuth on our backend.
- Generate and return available time slots in plain text.
- Provide customer support and improve the extension.
3. Data Storage and Security
- The JWT token and user preferences are stored locally in Chrome storage.
- We do not store or retain Google Calendar data beyond the processing needed to generate availability.
- We do not share user data with third parties.
4. Third-Party Services
We use Google OAuth and Google Calendar API for authentication and calendar access. These services are governed by Google’s privacy policies.
5. User Control
Users can revoke access by:
- Removing the extension
- Revoking OAuth access from their Google Account security settings
